Why a “large dog house” label is not enough

Heating depends on interior volume, insulation, doorway size, drafts, elevation and outdoor temperature. Wattage matters, but it cannot replace an evaluation of the finished shelter.

Measure the finished interior first

Measure inside length, width and height after insulation is installed. Check the doorway, roof, walls, raised floor and cable openings for uncontrolled heat loss.

Then compare 300W and 500W

Under the same shelter and weather conditions, 500W will generally warm the space faster and recover heat loss more quickly than 300W. Actual temperature still depends on the complete installation.

Do PetNF WiFi dog house heaters work with 5GHz WiFi?

No. All PetNF WiFi dog house heaters connect to 2.4GHz WiFi only. A 5GHz-only network is not supported. If your router combines both bands, enable or temporarily separate its 2.4GHz band during pairing.

Does a larger dog house always require 500W?

Not always. Under identical conditions, 500W generally warms faster, but the result also depends on internal volume, insulation, doorway size, drafts and local winter lows. Do not choose by the words “large dog house” alone.

Which model lets me place the probe near the resting zone?

D2303 has an external temperature probe with a lead that extends up to 100 cm. Keep the probe away from the air outlet, doorway drafts, direct sun, moisture and the animal's reach.

Can I buy a non-WiFi PF124 or D2303 in 2026?

No. PF124 and D2303 are offered as WiFi models in 2026. If you want local panel control without WiFi, choose the non-WiFi D2509.

Will D2509 restart heating automatically after a power outage?

No. Both D2509 versions must be manually turned on again after power is restored. Confirm the settings and actual operation before relying on the heater again.

Can these heaters be exposed directly to rain or snow?

No. Install the heater inside a dry, sheltered pet enclosure and follow the manual clearances. Protect the plug, connections and controls from rain, snow, condensation and standing water.
