Portable 1-Gallon Dog Water Bottle That’s Useful in Theory, but Not Great for Walks Due to Leaks

I haven’t really been using this on walks because it leaks a lot. That’s the main issue for me. Even though the idea is convenient a big 1-gallon bottle with a built-in bowl it doesn’t really work well in motion.It’s fine if it’s just sitting in one place, like at home, in the car, or at a campsite, where it can stay upright. But once it gets tilted or jostled around, water tends to leak out, which makes it annoying to carry during walks or active use.So instead of being my go-to walking bottle, it’s more like something I only use in stable situations where I don’t have to worry about spills.

This has been a handy waterer to have in our yard full of assorted critters from dogs and cats to adult and young poultry. They can all drink out of it safely, even young newly feathered poultry.To fill, flip it over, push the tab to the opposite side of the groove, and remove the black part. Unscrew the valve/lid under that, fill, then put everything back. It's simple and quick. Keep in mind that it can drain out if it is not level but as lomg as it is level, this waterer does NOT leak.It holds enough for all of our yard critters for the day. To clean when refilling, we just use our hand to wipe the inside of the bowl and loosen any dirt the critters got into it. (Indoors it would stay very clean.) It looks alright and seems like it will last as long as we keep it in the shade (the sun here is hard on plastic). I feel like the list price of $40 is too high but the discounted price of $30 is more reasonable.

Surprisingly Handy for Road Trips, Parks, and Baseball Games

We got this mainly for traveling with our Lab and for long days out with the family, and it’s honestly been more useful than I expected. The built-in bowl setup is what sold me on it because I’m tired of juggling a water jug in one hand and a slobbery collapsible bowl in the other while trying to manage kids and a dog at the same time.The gravity-fed bowl works well and makes it really easy to give the dog water quickly without wasting a ton. I like that the bowl slides back into the base too because it keeps everything more contained in the car instead of dripping everywhere afterward.The 1-gallon size is actually great for road trips and outdoor stuff. We recently started taking our Lab more places and this held enough water for a full outing without constantly needing refills. It’s also nice not having to hunt down water fountains that may or may not work.A few things I liked:Easy to carry despite holding a lot of waterDoesn’t feel flimsy or cheapBowl size is decent for medium/large dogsMuch cleaner setup than separate bowls and bottles rolling around the truckA couple downsides:When completely full, it gets a little heavy after carrying it around awhileYou have to make sure the bowl is fully closed before tossing it into the vehicle or it can leak a littleNot insulated, so the water can warm up on really hot days if it sits in the sunOverall though, this has been one of those “why didn’t we buy this sooner?” pet purchases. Especially if you travel with your dog a lot, go camping, hike, or spend weekends at parks and ball fields with the family.
